Building Information Modelling efficiently describes the process of designing, building and operating a project collaboratively using a single platform of computer models rather than separate sets of drawings or models. BIM represents a shared knowledge resource of project data empowering an informed basis for decisions during its life-cycle.
BIM enables a virtual information model to be handed from the design team to the main contractor and subcontractors and then on to the owner/operator. Each project partner adds discipline-specific data to the single shared model.
CDS uses Tekla BIMSight and Navisworks to co-ordinate models and align its output with the project’s requirements. This has various benefits including reducing rework and variations, enhancing communication between project partners and enabling our proactive identification of solutions to design clashes. CDS exports to a number a different 3D model file types to suit the clients BIM requirements.
